All The Pretty Details
Take it easy—this breezy, undone attitude floated off the runway at the Michael Kors Spring 2014 Show. From flouncy skirts and fluid palazzos to plum lips and tousled updos, everything carried a sense of summer romance. Here, a closer look at the final touches:

“With clutch bags, every woman I know says, 'I love a clutch bag, but I can’t fit everything.' So we love the idea of these hand-stitched deer skin clutches. So soft and spacious.”

“You can't see all the details from the runway. Very, very, very tiny paillettes. Raffia hand-embroidery. Cutout linen denim flowers. A cold-dyed, hand-dyed lace.”

“Very different this time. Very romantic. I thought, what do we listen to in the summer? When I’m at the beach, we have white linen curtains and I open the doors. I wanted the music that goes with curtains that blow.”
The Show Soundtrack:
Mama Cass Elliot, "Dream A Little Dream"
Fleetwood Mac, "Never Going Back Again"
Bette Midler, "Do You Want To Dance?"

“The one thing that’s kind of tough and strong throughout the whole collection are the shoes—to balance the romance. I call them chunk, gutsy city sandals.”

“I like a woman who has her own personality, her own way of looking at things. I actually like when she's a little undone. This softly pinned-up hair reflects that.”

“We created a sexy, warm skin tone using a combination of the two new Bronze Powders from the Michael Kors Beauty Collection. It’s not meant to look overly bronze, but to give the skin a seductive energy. The bronzers are applied in a horseshoe shape to warm the hairline, temples and cheeks.”

“The eye was kept soft with a taupe shadow all over the lid. Brown mascara was applied lightly to the tips—just to give the lashes some lift. Brows were filled in and groomed to frame the eye and create a polished finish.”

“The lip is our glam moment. It is first painted on with a lip brush, then blotted and powdered, then repeated...it has structure and color without harsh lines.”

“We wanted a sporty nail tone that would go with all skin tones. I’m calling it “Foundation Nude Nails”—similar to perfecting a skin tone. First, we moisturized the hands and feet. Next, two coats of Nail Lacquer gave just the right amount of coverage. We didn’t want any ridges or the nail tip to show, so that it would be one smooth and unified surface.”
