Trend Report: Resort 2016
Resort 2016 offers a lesson in geometry with three-dimensional, mosaic-inspired prints that inject a graphic sensibility to the season. Rich in Art Deco references, the caramel-infused palette is updated for now with of-the-moment silhouettes that bring a modern wearability to the looks. Oversized prints in luxe fur and knits lend an edge to the classics, while shrunken patterns on silk and wool add opulent texture—think of it as the new tweed. The graphics strike the perfect balance between classic and contemporary, because who doesn’t want the best of both worlds?
I was inspired by the mosaics in the south of France and the modern architecture in Palm Springs—sharp hexagon, octagon and diamond motifs that play off of bold stripes and precise piping.
