From the creative department to the design teams to yes, even the CEO, some 400 employees from the Michael Kors’ New York and New Jersey offices volunteered throughout the month of July at God’s Love We Deliver, a New York-based organization that provides meals to people living with severe illnesses.
A native of New York, Kors has been devoted to the organization for over twenty years and showed his culinary skills by chopping carrots and peppers in the kitchen with husband Lance LePere, Aerin Lauder and our very own public relations department during his most recent visit.
Kors employees from around the world—including Canada, Japan, Mexico, Panama, Europe and the Philippines—also got in on the action, volunteering at their local hunger-related charities.
Thinking about volunteering in your area? Ludwigson recommends doing some research to ensure the work is a good fit. “Check out the charity’s website or better yet, stop by for a visit before you commit,” he advises. “At God’s Love, we ask our volunteers to be enthusiastic, passionate about the cause and committed. These qualities are good for any volunteer.”
In recognition of the important work of God’s Love We Deliver and the commitment of Michael Kors to help end world hunger, the Seventh Annual Golden Heart Awards dinner is being held on World Food Day, October 16, 2013. In 2012, Kors was honored with the Golden Heart Award for Lifetime Achievement and this year, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will be honored with the first-ever Michael Kors Award for Outstanding Community Service.
