Fashion and philanthropy came together to honor the good work and communal spirit of God’s Love We Deliver at a ribbon-cutting that unveiled the newly named Michael Kors Building in SoHo, New York.

Anna Wintour, Melissa Rivers, Mayor Bill de Blasio and other supporters attended the ceremony, watching Michael Kors do the honors for the building, which also includes the Anna Wintour Volunteer Center and the Joan Rivers Bakery.

Power Pair: Anna Wintour and Michael Kors celebrate the new God’s Love We Deliver SoHo building.
The six-story structure—made possible through city grants and charitable donations—was designed by Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel Architects, DPC, and includes a 9,600-square-foot kitchen where over 1.4 million meals will be prepared annually, and delivered to people living with severe illness in the New York City metropolitan area.

“I’ve been a supporter of God’s Love We Deliver for over 30 years, and I’m still amazed at the work they do every day,” said Michael Kors, whose personal gift in 2012 helped kick off the project, and who is a member of the board. “Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to help make the Michael Kors Building a reality, and a special thanks to the staff at God’s Love We Deliver, who work tirelessly every day to make the world a better place.”

Last year, Michael Kors and Anna Wintour helped pack 1,200 meals in just two hours during a volunteer session. “Anna is a problem-solver: she’s not afraid to roll up her sleeves and work out the answer that everyone is looking for,” said Michael Kors, as he honored Anna Wintour’s contribution to the charity and her section of the building.

The morning also paid tribute to another life-long God’s Love devotee, Joan Rivers, with the dedication of the building’s new bakery. “Joan was an amazing performer, a great friend and a dedicated member of the team here at God’s Love,” said Kors. “Her passion and her generosity inspired all of us.”

Following the ceremony, the ARC gospel choir serenaded the crowd and the amazing God’s Love team readied the new kitchen for action.
