The convergence of style and speed: Michael Kors partners with McLaren-Honda.

One is an American fashion house, the other a British Formula 1 racing team. Yet with their commitment to design and performance and dedication to a fast, jet set lifestyle, it may just be the perfect pairing. This week, Michael Kors and McLaren-Honda came together in London to announce their new partnership, with Michael Kors becoming the official lifestyle partner of the Formula 1 team. Attendees included Michael Kors, Michael Kors Chairman and CEO John Idol, McLaren Technology Group Chairman and CEO Ron Dennis, and McLaren-Honda Formula 1 drivers Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso.

“Michael Kors and McLaren-Honda are pioneers in their respective spaces, and we firmly believe that McLaren-Honda is the right partner for our entry into the Formula 1 racing world,” said John Idol. “This is an exciting moment for us, especially as we continue to grow as a men’s lifestyle brand.”


As the team’s official lifestyle partner, Michael Kors branding will feature prominently on both the driver overalls and the McLaren-Honda MP4-31 car. Michael Kors Mens customers can also get a piece of the action with the debut of a limited-edition men’s leather jacket celebrating the partnership launch. Fifty black leather jackets have been produced exclusively for the new Michael Kors London flagship store on Regent Street. The jackets feature both the Michael Kors and McLaren-Honda logos, as well as a limited-edition plaque with each piece’s unique production number.

“This partnership is about the convergence of style and speed, which is inherent to both the Michael Kors and McLaren-Honda DNAs,” said Michael Kors. “There is an energy, sophistication and confidence to both of our brands, and we wanted to create a limited-edition piece that spoke to that.”
