EDITOR’S PICKS

Whether they are jetting to runway shows, planning shoots, tracking down street style trends or reporting on the latest culture fads, fashion editors rely on their phones like their careers depend on it. Because a busy schedule calls for some serious battery life, we asked six professionals to test drive our newest obsession—the Michael Kors Duracell Powermat Kit —while Phil Oh of Streetpeeper took some snaps.

Q: Name the three reasons you can’t live without your mobile phone.
“Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter! Constantly checking all three.”
Q: How do you unplug, if ever?
“With a long, hot bath, and a Bulleit® on the rocks. Heaven!”
Q: What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without checking your phone (and why)?
“So bad, but probably only two hours during a movie? Or maybe when I flew to Madagascar? Long flight!”

AMANDA WEINER, Senior Accessories Editor at Harper’s Bazaar
Q: Name the three reasons you can’t live without your mobile phone.
“1. Work. 2. Navigation (I do not have the best sense of direction). 3. Entertainment.”
Q: How do you unplug, if ever?
“I unplug on a plane or on vacation. Not having service is sometimes just what you need to unwind.”
Q: What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without checking your phone (and why)?
“I have to admit the longest I've ever gone without my phone is probably on an overseas flight that didn't have Wi-Fi.”

Annie Georgia Greenberg, Senior Style Editor at Refinery 29
Connie Wang, Style Director at Refinery 29
Q: Name the three reasons you can’t live without your mobile phone.

Annie: “Photos, texting, music.” Connie: “Podcasts on the go, map apps, and group text message threads among my friends that are years long.”

Q: How do you unplug, if ever?

Annie: “My phone is constantly dying (which is just one reason I'm excited about the charger!) so I unplug, albeit unwillfully on the regular.” Connie: “Sleep mode for non-sleep hours is my guilty pleasure, but that only happens on an occasional weekend! Otherwise, the only other time I unplug is accidentally – I can't tell you how many times I've left my phone in a cab. Whoops.”

Q: What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without checking your phone (and why)?

Annie: “Four days. I dropped my phone in Lake Union and then went to San Francisco without a working device. A bag of rice later and it turned on and is still with me (but barely) to this day.” Connie: “Long-distance flights. Otherwise, I always check in every few hours. At this point, it's a stress not to.”

Shiona Turini, Stylist and Consultant
Q: Name the three reasons you can’t live without your mobile phone.
“1. Connection. My family is from Bermuda and I have a network of global friends that is so important to me. I have to talk to them daily! 2. Creativity. The Internet is such a vital part of the creative process I couldn't work without it. From research to mood boards on the go, I couldn't do it without my phone. 3. Constant communication. As a freelancer I work nonstop.”
Q: How do you unplug, if ever?
“When I'm with family, especially in Bermuda, I try and disconnect and live in the moment. I also do not charge my phone next to my bed. Someone told me that how you wake up is how you set the tone for the day. I try to avoid checking my phone like a technology fiend when I wake up!”
Q: What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without checking your phone (and why)?
“When I visited Morocco I only used my phone when we had WiFi. Our days were so full - my phone was the last thing on my mind.”

Jessica Minkoff, Senior Fashion Market and Accessories Editor at Teen Vogue
Q: Name the three reasons you can’t live without your mobile phone.
“It’s unfortunate that in this day and age we are all so attached to our mobile devices, but I would be lying if I said that I could do without mine. First off, my cell phone has all of my contacts numbers and emails on it, so without my iPhone I wouldn’t be able to get in touch with anyone! Second, it allows me to complete chores and tasks (pay bills, purchase gifts, shop sales, ha!) while on the go. Third, it enables me to keep up to speed with the industry (via Instagram, Twitter, etc.) and up to date with what is going on in the world!”
Q: How do you unplug, if ever?
“I definitely struggle to find a time to unplug. I really love the industry that I work in; so most of the time I don’t mind being connected 24/7. For 2015, I am making a resolution to not send emails after 10PM or before 8AM (I am known to send a 6AM email every now and then). But when it comes to Instagram, there will be no restrictions!”
Q: What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without checking your phone (and why)?
“7 hours—while I am sleeping!”
