With her pillowy pout, soulful gaze and flawless, alabaster skin, it’s no surprise that Vanessa Moody caught the modeling industry’s attention from the get-go. Signing with an agency straight out of high school, she was walking the runway in Paris by the following season, quickly becoming a new in-demand darling of the fashion world. Barely two years on, the 20-year-old Texan native is the star of the Michael Kors Spring 2016 Collection campaign. We took five with the model-of-the-moment to talk beauty, travel and who she’d love to swap lives with for a day.
Q: What model do you most admire?
A: Natasha Poly and Gisele Bundchen. Beyond being modeling icons who have consistently remained at the top of the game, they’re kind and incredible women (and are now mothers too!).
Q: Green juice: yay or nay?
A: I know green juice is healthy, but I haven't fully gotten into it yet. I do love fruit juice, and sometimes sneak vegetables into that!
Q: What are your packing essentials?
A: I check the weather religiously beforehand so I know what to pack. Necessities I always bring: a good face cleanser, a moisturizing lip balm, my tablet, a good book, and clothes I can layer.
Q: What is the best style advice you’ve ever been given?
A: Don’t try to be anyone else. You can be inspired by other people's style, but always make it your own.
Q: What’s the one thing in the world you can’t live without?
A: My family—they’re the most important thing to me.
Q: When do you feel most yourself?
A: When I'm around genuine people and having fun.

Q: If you could swap lives with someone for a day, who would it be and why?
A: The President of the United States. It would be amazing to see the world from that perspective.
Q: What are your can’t-live-without apps?
A: WhatsApp, Uber, Google Maps, Postmates!
Q: It’s your birthday: what are you having for dinner and who are you with?
A: On my birthday I love steak and fried shrimp, and I would have my family and close friends with me. Simple, that’s all I need!
Q: What’s your favorite way to work out?
A: My favorite class to take is SLT in New York. I enjoy focusing more on stretching and cardio.
Q: How do you stay healthy when travelling so much?
A: During fashion week I stay in an apartment or hotel with kitchen accessories so I have the option to cook, and I prepare snacks to take while I’m running around. Fruit is always an easy option.
Q: If you could only use three beauty products for
the rest of your life, what would you use?
the rest of your life, what would you use?
A: Bioderma Cleansing Water, a good moisturizer, and my favorite perfume.

Q: Best tips for shaking jetlag?
A: If I have time before bedtime, I'll explore the city I’m in, or watch Netflix. If my schedule takes me right to work, then I try to keep my energy up by being social—hanging out and joking around with everyone. I don't drink coffee, but green tea can certainly help in that situation.
Q: Best music concert you’ve been to?
A: I went to see my favorite band, Barcelona—they're a little band from Seattle. I waited forever to see them on tour!
Q: What is the advice you wish you’d been given when you first began modeling?
A: It's better to be yourself and make true connections than trying to be everyone's friend.
Q: If you weren’t modeling, what career would you be pursuing?
A: I would be in college studying business management and advertising.
Q: Biggest misconception about models?
A: That we don't eat! Many of us eat a lot, and work out hard to keep in shape for work.

I was raised in texas, it is very hot and large. Now I live in New York and the biggest difference from my hometown is the amount of space, and the international mix of people. My favorite place to travel to is any warm beach location because I love the sunshine, the ocean and air. Three destinations I want to visit are Antarctica, New Zealand and Australia. modeling has taught me that everyone is different, and to always be considerate and grateful for what you have. My perfect day starts with a well put-together, healthy breakfast, and ends with being around my family. In ten years i hope to be a strong businesswoman and model.
