A Minute with A Model: Sasha Pivovarova

A chic chat with the face behind the Michael Kors Resort Collection Campaign

When you experience the kind of stratospheric success Sasha Pivovarova has, it would be easy to sit back and enjoy the ride that supermodel stardom has to offer. But the Russian-born beauty has never been one to do the expected, juggling her in-demand schedule with artistic pursuits that have only added to her enigmatic appeal. The former art history student’s paintings and illustrations have been featured in the likes of French Vogue and exhibited everywhere from Paris to New York, including the bohemian Brooklyn loft which doubles as Pivovarova’s home and studio space.

With a vampy, romantic-grunge aesthetic and penchant for leather, that creative flair is just as evident in the model’s personal style, acting as the perfect counterpoint to her ethereal beauty.

We took five with our latest campaign face to talk style, art and her three-year-old daughter, Mia.

A: Kind, witty, fun, creative and generous.
Q: What’s going through your head when you’re walking the runway?

Q:  How would you describe your art?
A: Meditative, figurative, self-reflective, whimsical and detailed.
Q: Which five artists – past or present – would you invite to a dinner party and why? (Bonus points if you can tell us what you’d cook!)
A: Leonardo da
Vinci, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Mozart, Coco Chanel and my great grandfather - he was an artist in his own way. I think I’d cook Italian. Everyone loves pasta!

A: Pay attention to the details.
