Michael’s Night at the Met Gala
Oh the glitz, the glamour, the gowns—the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, in New York City, is forever one of the most lavish soirées on the fashion calendar.
When the red carpet rolled out to fête this year’s “China: Through the Looking Glass” exhibition, Michael Kors brought Kate Hudson as his date, and played host and dressed a chic lineup of muses including Hailee Steinfeld, Elizabeth Banks, Candice Swanepoel, Liu Wen, Gao Yuanyuan, Gemma Ward and Fei Fei Sun, with subtle nods to the east-meets-west theme. Grace Coddington of Vogue also walked the red carpet in a set of limited-edition Mandarin evening pajamas.
And, because the occasion called for an after-party, Kors—together with iTunes—held an exclusive post-Gala event at The Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side. Inside, the A-list posed for photo-booth-style candid snaps by Mark Mann and mingled gown-to-gown with music by iTunes, featuring DJ Cassidy, setting the mood. The night ended on a high-note with a performance by Grammy Award-winner Miguel, giving invitees one more chance to take their dresses for a spin, before kicking off their heels.
