If you needed proof of Michael Kors’ jet-set lifestyle, look no further than his latest trip to Seoul. The designer jetted into the capital of South Korea for a day of non-stop glamour, kicking the day off at the Park Hyatt for a Korean Tea Ceremony with some of the country’s top fashion influencers.
Blogger Lee Nanjeong and digital director of Vogue Korea Kim Ji-young were in attendance, as were fashion stylists and influencers Tina Leung and Faye Tsui (pictured).
Later that evening, Michael and a host of VIPs toasted the opening of his shimmering new flagship, located in the prestigious Cheongdam district. The new store will be the first in Korea to stock the Michael Kors Collection line, a fact that Michael was particularly excited about. “In this store, we’ll be able to offer Korean women the full range of Michael Kors. Seoul is super chic, so I think they’re going to love it,” he said.
On show in-store was the limited-edition group of products—a customized Scout Camera Bag with high-shine gold star embellishments and a sticker pack inspired by Korean youth culture—designed exclusively for Korea to celebrate the flagship opening and Michael’s trip to Seoul.
The final festivity of the day began shortly after the store opening, toasting the release of Harper’s Bazaar Korea “Young Korea,” a special project celebrating seven local rising stars. Models Soo Joo Park and Han Hye-jin, actresses Seo Ji-hye and Ryu Hwa-young, singers Ailee and Yubin and fashion influencer Irene Kim all star in the luxe feature wearing pieces from the Resort 2017 Michael Kors Collection. Of course, the seven women were there to celebrate, mingling with other VIPs including Seohyun of top K-pop girl group Girls’ Generation and actresses Kim Jung-eun and Soo Hyeon. A performance from Ailee, one of the “Young Korea” stars, and Korean hip-hop artist Simon D capped off the day of celebrations.
