Toasts of the town: Michael Kors and Kate Hudson.
How do you unwind after a whirlwind trip to Seoul? If you’re Michael Kors, you jet off to Singapore for a jam-packed, unforgettable 32 hours. On the agenda: a series of celebrations in the buzzing metropolis with Michael, Kate Hudson, and a host of VIPs.
The Singapore festivities kicked off in the Botanic Gardens, where Michael was honored with a unique orchid genus named after him in commemoration of the trip. With past honorees including The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Elton John and Andrea Bocelli, it’s safe to say he was in good company.
The next day began with a talk with Michael and Alina Cho at the Singapore School of the Arts. The designer sat down with the esteemed journalist to discuss a broad range of top-of-mind topics, from style to Kendall Jenner’s Instagram hiatus to what it takes to make it in fashion. Following the talk, Michael and a group of style influencers from around the globe made their way to Raffles Hotel, where they learnt how to make the famous Singapore Sling cocktail that was invented by the hotel back in 1915. Attendees included Thai model and actress Praya Lundberg, Australian model Jessica Gomes and Singapore influencer Yoyo Cao.
The opening of the Mandarin Gallery Store that evening was a particularly memorable moment for Michael, not only because the flagship is the largest in Southeast Asia and the first to stock his men’s line, but because his close friend Kate Hudson jetted in to celebrate the milestone with him. The day of celebrations culminated in an intimate dinner with VIP attendees at Wolfgang Puck’s famed CUT Singapore restaurant, where champagne toasts fueled a festive mood late into the evening.
